Making Connections

The poem, “ Herd Behavior” and the novel, “ The Outsiders” show a really strong connection on how they stick together even when things get rough. The connections makes me think about the Greasers and Socs about when they in the rumble. For the reason being is that in the Outsiders when they were in the rumble all the Greasers stood up for each other and didn't let no one down because all the greasers were like a whole big family. Now in the poem Herd Behavior, it said, “All of the animals band closely together in a group and, in panic mode, move together as a unit.” It connected with the Outsiders because when something happens they all panic and move together as a whole and don't leave no one behind; they all stick up for each other. Another connection would be is that the herd behavior says that, “ It often has a connotation of irrationality, as people’s actions are driven by emotion rather than by thinking through a situation.” This quote connects to the Outsiders because the Greasers were mad at the Socs for jumping Ponyboy and Johnny. This led them to having a rumble instead of thinking it through. Overall the greasers always stand up for each other and never leave them behind as well as the Herd Behavior they always stay together. I really recommend this book because many people can relate to the book. They can make their own connections with the book and what the characters are going through.
