#ONEWORD2018

Grow that’s my one word. Now you guys may think why grow? I chose grow because grow has so many meaning to me it means I grow as a better person than I was before and not just me but other people around me. Me personally I like helping people even if it’s someone they need to talk to. From me choosing grow I can help people become a better person. For me to achieve this goal I will help people more than what I usually do by either becoming a friend to them or being there for them when they ever need it or just need someone in general just to see how they are doing. I would hold myself accountable with my word by checking up on friends maybe twice a week seeing how they doing, what they are planning over the weekend, or even just a simple “hey” and seeing what they are doing today and seeing if they want to hangout. Does my one word connect to you? What’s your one word?

If I Stay

“I edge closer and now I know that it’s not teddy lying there. It’s me”(pg.17).  Imagine experiencing  out-of-body experience after a car accident and seeing your mom and dad being zipped in a plastic bag by the paramedics, not finding your brother, and seeing yourself in the car covered in blood. What would you do? As Mia goes on this out-of-body experience on trying to finding her brother Teddy, and her family and friends waiting until she wakes up. This book If I Stay by Gayle Forman, takes you on an adventure that you never thought of. It makes you feel like you are Mia and you are trying to find your brother and seeing if you would wake up. The parts that really stick to me is the adventures that she takes when she is in the out-of-body experience and how this book takes place in one day. Read the book to find out if she ever find her brother? Or will she ever wake up?

The Sister Pact

You won’t believe what I just read! I read the book called The Sister Pact by Stacie Ramey It was so interesting because me personally I love reading books that are young adult fiction. In the book they are these two Sister one name Leah and Allie. Leah committed scuicide and in the book Allie is trying to figure out why Leah committed scuicide because her life seem so “perfect”. As the story continues problems come up with family and friends and she finds out secrets that her family including her own sister kept from her. Also finds out secrets that her friends kept from her too. One of my favorite part of the book is when Leah finds out why her sister killed herself and what Allie said about Leah really did speak out to me, but I can say what she said your are just going have to read the book to find out. I think this book really connects to people if you lost someone that was very special to you. I really do recommend this book! I hope you read it and tell me your thoughts about the book or even parts that you really like or spoke out to you!

1 quarter down 3 more to go

8 or 9 weeks have passed by already and we are already done with quarter 1! WHAT!? Like they say time does pass by really fast. Quarter one has been such a great quarter so far. I love all my classes, my teachers, and classmates are so nice and respectful. My grades are amazing I mostly have 3 and 4, I think the only thing I would change is to be a better student whenever I miss a day of school. Either text my teachers and ask them what did we do or ask one of my classmates. Just so I won’t be behind any of my classes when I come back. I love the clubs that I have joined in so far I am in Me To We which is a club that help people locally and internationally, I am also in Poms which is the girls that go and dance in halftime in the basketball games. I am also in National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) which is helping out your community in many ways. From that I hope for the best that I keep on doing good in school. How has your quarter 1 gone so far?

S T A N D O U T

This quote speaks so much about me. My whole  life I always felt left out. Either it was with my friends or even my family. Throughout my whole life I've struggle with being the smallest person. Mostly with my friends I would always feel left out wether that was with being the smallest or not being more develope but, after years have passed I recognized that I am this way for a reason I was born to standout and to not be like other people. I’ve embraced how short I am and how I’m different from everbody els in this world.

Making Connections

The poem, “ Herd Behavior” and the novel, “ The Outsiders” show a really strong connection on how they stick together even when things get rough. The connections makes me think about the Greasers and Socs about when they in the rumble. For the reason being is that in the Outsiders when they were in the rumble all the Greasers stood up for each other and didn't let no one down because all the greasers were like a whole big family. Now in the poem Herd Behavior, it said, “All of the animals band closely together in a group and, in panic mode, move together as a unit.” It connected with the Outsiders because when something happens they all panic and move together as a whole and don't leave no one behind; they all stick up for each other. Another connection would be is that the herd behavior says that, “ It often has a connotation of irrationality, as people’s actions are driven by emotion rather than by thinking through a situation.” This quote connects to the Outsiders because the Greasers were mad at the Socs for jumping Ponyboy and Johnny. This led them to having a rumble instead of thinking it through. Overall the greasers always stand up for each other and never leave them behind as well as the Herd Behavior they always stay together. I really recommend this book because many people can relate to the book. They can make their own connections with the book and what the characters are going through.

The outsiders book & movie comparison

The Outsiders the movie and the novel have similarities. Both the novel and the movie are similar by when Ponyboy came home late for sleeping in the lot and Ponyboy getting hit by Darry for coming home late which made Ponyboy ran off with Jonny. Which was a big part in the book and the movie because that's what created the conflict of Jonny killing Bob later on in the movie and the book. Leading towards after Jonny killed Bob they went to Dally and Dally send them to the church which made Ponyboy and Jonny stay there for a couple of days and changed how they looked.

Not only that they were some differences that they had in the book and not in the movie. For example in the book when the greasers and the socs were ready for the rumble. Darry was telling the socs that who wants to fight him and the no one stood up to him, until a few seconds later Paul Holden stepped up to fight him,  but in the movie Paul Holden was the first guy in front of the group of the socs and Darry started to talk to Paul right away. Forward on in the book when they were in the rumble Paul Holden hit Darry first and that's what started the rumble. On the other hand in the movie Ponyboy got punched in the face first and that's how the rumble started in the movie.

The actors and the directors did an amazing job. They acted like the actors how were described in the book. It really showed how it was back in the days and how they dressed up and how they acted. Another thing would be how they showed how they divide between the greasers and the Socs/ rich kids. It really did show amazing work on it was in past was and how it is different from now.
